The Role:

We're looking for a Director of Loss Control to lead our loss control and risk management function and serve as a key partner to Underwriting and Claims. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll guide pre-bind risk assessments, lead root cause analysis efforts, develop risk improvement strategies, and oversee external loss control partnerships. You'll also manage and develop a Risk Control Specialist while helping shape the tools, resources, and programs that support safer workplaces and stronger risk performance across our book of business.

Essential Job Functions:

• Lead the development and execution of our loss control program designed to reduce workplace injuries and improve overall risk performance.
\n
• Oversee the evaluation of workplace environments, operational practices, and safety controls to identify exposures and recommend corrective actions.
\n
• Analyze loss trends to uncover patterns, measure program effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
\n
• Conduct pre-bind risk quality assessments for elevated-risk accounts, including insured interviews and graded recommendations to Underwriting
\n
• Lead claim-by-claim root cause analysis and produce corrective action plans for Underwriting, Claims, and the insured
\n
• Establish and track risk recommendations with mandatory UW notification on compliance and non-compliance
\n
• Manage vendor relationships including field inspection TPA and AI tech, etc.
\n
• Develop post-bind loss prevention resources tailored to each class of business
\n
• Administer NY Code Rule 59/60 and PA safety committee credit programs
\n
• Manage and develop direct report(s).
\n

Requirements:

\n
• 7+ years in workers' compensation loss control or risk management, with leadership experience
\n
• Deep knowledge of WC in NY, NJ, and PA; Code Rule 59 and Code Rule 60 experience required
\n
• Proven root cause analysis experience — claim-by-claim investigation, not just trend reporting
\n
• Strong communication skills; ability to distill complex risk findings into concise, actionable assessments
\n
• ARM, CRM, CSP, or CPCU designation a plus
\n
• Comfortable as a player-coach in a lean, high-output environment
\n
• Proficiency with risk management systems (RTRS or equivalent) and Microsoft Office
\n
• Willingness to travel within NY, NJ, and PA
\n

Salary Range: $150,000-$250,000
