The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and strategic Human Resources professional to join our firm as the Human Resources Manager supporting our Chicago and Des Moines offices, based in Chicago. In this role, the HR Manager will serve as a trusted business partner to leadership, developing a deep understanding of the firm's business objectives, service line strategies, and long-term talent needs. The successful candidate will play an integral role in aligning people strategies with business goals while fostering a high-performance, inclusive, and engaging workplace culture.


The HR Manager will partner closely with business leaders and Centers of Excellence, including Talent Acquisition, National HR, Learning & Development, and Wellness and Benefits, to support initiatives across the employee lifecycle. This role will drive talent development, performance management, compensation, workforce planning, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness efforts that directly contribute to the success of the Metro Chicago offices.

As a trusted advisor, employee advocate, and change champion, the HR Manager will provide guidance on talent-related matters, support organizational change initiatives, and help leaders navigate complex people decisions while ensuring alignments with firm values and business priorities.

Our hybrid workplace, with a 65% in-office expectation, helps foster collaboration and reinforce our culture. This role reports to the HR Director.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Partner with Metro Chicago leaders to understand current and future business strategies and translate into effective people solutions
• Drive talent management strategies, including semi-annual performance reviews, succession planning, employee development, and retention
• Act as an advisor to employees and leaders to navigate challenging situations by applying comprehensive knowledge in local and federal labor laws and firm policies and procedures
• Support employees throughout their career lifecycle by managing the onboarding and offboarding processes
• Develop strong relationships and coach leaders on employee relations matters, organizational effectiveness, talent decisions, and succession planning
• Collaborate with Centers of Excellence to implement firmwide programs and initiatives
• Act as a change agent by guiding leaders and employees through organizational growth and transformation

The Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required
• 6+ years of related experience
• Human Resources certification - SHRM or HRCI (SPHR/PHR) preferred and required within 12 months of joining the firm
• Professional services or consulting experience desired
• Comprehensive knowledge in HR principles, including relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations
• Strong business acumen and business fluency to understand how the firm operates and identify and interpret levers that impact firm performance
• Strong verbal / written communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
• Understands and can articulate compensation principles and practices with clients
• Effective organization / time management skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks
• Thrives in an ambiguous environment and is a self-starter
• Ability to respond positively to changing circumstances, seek, and implement change to drive business improvement
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Compensation and Benefits

Our firm offers competitive base compensation, benefits package, and a discretionary employee bonus program for eligible employees based on individual and firm performance metrics per the defined program guidelines.


Salary Range: For individuals hired to work in Chicago, the expected salary range for this role is $110,000 - $145,000, the actual salary offer can vary based upon employee qualifications.

Benefits: Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our firm's 401(k) plan upon hire.
