Legal Billing Specialist

Cullen and Dykman LLP is a full-service law firm that has been serving clients since 1850. We are seeking a full-time legal billing specialist to join our high-volume billing department in our Uniondale office.

Position Overview

In this role, you will support the firm's billing operations by ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant invoice processing for a large portfolio of insurance defense matters.

Job Duties:

• Process monthly and quarterly client billing invoices.
• Review client billing instructions to ensure full compliance with guidelines.
• Research and resolve billing issues; collaborate with partners, assistants, and billing staff to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Submit and monitor e-billed invoices; resolve discrepancies and rejected invoices promptly.
• Track delayed payments and follow up as needed.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance preferred.
• 2+ years of relevant billing experience, required
• Experience with legal billing systems and time & billing software is a plus.
• Knowledge of standard billing processes, including invoice formatting, timekeeper allocations, and paperless billing workflows.
• Experience with electronic billing platforms, including client/matter setup and time entry troubleshooting.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently under time-sensitive deadlines.
• Prior experience in a law firm environment, highly preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with all levels of firm personnel and client contacts.
• Willingness to work extended hours during billing deadlines.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this role is $55,000-$70,000. We offer a competitive salary, an excellent benefits package, and a collaborative, friendly environment. Actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
