Trauma/Ortho/Surgical Tele RN – Travel Contract (T8 Unit)

? Unit: Trauma / Orthopedic / Surgical Telemetry (T8)

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Telemetry RN with Level I Trauma experience to join a high-acuity Trauma/Ortho/Surgical unit. This unit cares for trauma, transplant, orthopedic, and complex post-surgical patients.

Required Experience

✅ Level I Trauma experience is REQUIRED

✅ Minimum 2 years of recent Telemetry RN experience

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS

Unit Details

• 30-bed Trauma/Ortho/Surgical Telemetry unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4–5
• EMR: Cerner
• Telemetry: Phillips
• Common respiratory equipment: BiPAP, CPAP

Common Patient Population

• Trauma patients
• Post-operative transplant patients (POD 1)
• Whipple procedures
• Spine surgery
• Orthopedic joint replacements
• General surgical patients

Floating

Traveler must be willing to float to:

• Observation
• VMU
• T5 / T6
• 5N / 6N
• Other Med/Surg and Telemetry units within competency

Scheduling

• 12-hour shifts
• Weekend Requirement: 3 shifts every 4 weeks
• Holidays rotate with permanent staff

Orientation

• 2 floor orientation shifts
• Pass/Fail SIMs Lab on Day 1
  • Foley catheter insertion
  • Central line dressing changes
  • Strict sterile technique is required

Additional Facility Requirements

• 50-mile radius rule (Driver's License used to verify address)
• Medical Solutions clinical pre-screen required
• Must pass a Dysrhythmia Exam before acceptance (2 attempts allowed)
• Must have natural hair color
• No facial piercings
• Male travelers must be clean-shaven for respirator fit testing
• Travel pairs must have separate vehicles

✔ Comfortable caring for trauma, transplant, and complex surgical patients

✔ Strong telemetry interpretation skills

✔ Competent in sterile technique

✔ Flexible with floating to other Med/Surg and Telemetry units
