Information Technology Specialist I

Job Description and Duties

The Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) will be responsible for the network support operations of the Department, with a journeyman level experience on the maintenance and operations of the California Highway Patrol's (CHP) statewide reporting system, CalCrash. The ITS I will maintain experience in network implementation, wide area network configurations, security best practices, cloud network functionality, and an understanding of the complexities involved in managing diverse systems. The CHP network infrastructure supports an environment of 20,000 endpoint devices, over 250 physical locations, and 25 911 dispatch centers that operate 24 hours per day, seven days per week, 365 days per year.

This limited-term position may be extended up to a maximum of 24 months, with the  possibility of becoming permanent.

Working Conditions

Monday through Friday, 0800-1700 hours. Some travel will be required. The Information Technology Specialist I may need to work outside of normally scheduled hours. May need to move equipment up to 40 pounds.
