Job Title: Application Security Specialist Classification: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST I Salary: $6,513 - $10,537 per month (minimum for new to State candidates as applicable) Work Location: Hybrid (Office-based, eligible for some remote work) Final Filing Date: 7/22/2026 Working Conditions Requires 4 or more days in the office per week. Designated office‑centered with some remote work based on departmental guidelines and operational need. Duties Under the direction of the Information Technology Supervisor II, Application Security Unit, the incumbent reviews application and system architecture, configuration, and changes to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures, contributing to safeguarding taxpayer and employee information within the Information Security Engineering domain. (INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST I) Desirable Qualifications Working knowledge of web servers, web applications, and multi‑tier application design Experience with application vulnerability scanners and penetration testing tools Ability to communicate security‑related concepts to a broad range of technical and non‑technical staff Familiarity with OWASP Top 10 web application security flaws Experience with application development and system development life cycle Experience leading large enterprise projects with mentoring Experience preparing management reports on security progress Ability to perform information system assessments to verify policy compliance and security standards Experience recommending re‑engineering strategies for information systems Experience with app security policies and standards Experience with secure coding and development best practices Experience developing N‑tier applications Benefits Convenient transportation and commuting options: light rail stop, bicycle lockers, free parking, car‑pool/van‑pool opportunities.
