Posting Information Posting Open Date 06/01/2026 Application Deadline 06/15/2026 Position Type Permanent Staff (SHRA) Position Title University Program Specialist - Advanced Salary Grade NC14 / GN13 Hours per week 40 Work Schedule Monday-Friday 8:00a-5:00p Work Location CHAPEL HILL, NC Position Summary University Policy Analyst core member of the University Policy Office. Responsibilities are organized around three areas: Policy Repository Management, Policy Analysis and Benchmarking, and Stakeholder Engagement. Additional duties include testing and refining UNC Chapel Hill’s Generative AI‑powered policy chatbot and shaping future policy administration as the Board of Trustees policy resolution is implemented. Responsibilities Serve as subject‑matter expert for policies.unc.edu, oversee the content management system, review policies for clarity, completeness, and alignment with University standards, and publish approved policies and updates. Research peer institution policies and practices, communicate findings to senior officials through verbal briefings and formal memoranda, and develop knowledge quickly and translate it into actionable analysis. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with policy owners and campus stakeholders, navigate the review and approval process, and ensure the office’s work continues to meet institutional needs. Play a key role in testing and refining UNC Chapel Hill’s Generative AI‑powered policy chatbot and shape the future of policy administration as the Board of Trustees policy resolution is implemented. Other duties may include serving on university working groups and briefing senior officials on policy matters. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from accredited institutions. Experience with policy development, policy analysis, or reviewing policies or regulatory documents in an institutional context. Experience conducting comparative research across organizations and synthesizing findings into written recommendations. Experience managing content in a web‑based content management system or digital repository. Experience working with Generative AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. Knowledge of UNC Chapel Hill policies and procedures, UNC System governance, or policy practices at comparable public research universities.
