Our company is looking for a Civil/Structural Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Most projects are multi-disciplined and require extensive interface with other staff engineers as well as engineers working out of our offices;
  • Gaining familiarity with and application of industry codes and government regulations;
  • Review vendor concrete reinforcement and structural steel shop fabrication drawings;
  • Have a basic understanding of structural analysis software;
  • Manage his or her own time to stay within the project allotted budget;
  • Learn design codes and follow establish design criteria;
  • Coordinate engineering details/drafting with department designer staff to develop project design drawings;
  • Originate and check complex structural engineering deliverables, such as steel calculations,;
  • Participate in technical discussions with client, suppliers, construction, etc;
  • Support construction by dispositioning field change requests and nonconformance reports;
  • Other duties as assigned;
  • May be required to participate in short or long term field assignments;
  • Provide layout and details portions of projects using schematic layout by project lead engineer;
  • Provide drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers/Drafters;
  • Perform field activities such as observe and record existing field conditions and take and verify measurements within project area.

Requirements:

  • Ability to be badged at a nuclear power plant;
  • Necessary skills to present technical subjects with competence and confidence;
  • PE in Civil or related Engineering Registration;
  • Ability to multi-task and work on more than one project at a time;
  • Understands when to seek additional guidance from senior engineers on project/process issues and when to research the solution on their own;
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering or Architecture;
  • Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning and organizational skills are essential;
  • Ability to receive direction from department manager and/or discipline lead and incorporate instruction into completing tasks;
  • Proficient in Word and Excel;
  • Experience with drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers/Drafters;
  • Professional Engineer License (PE) from California or other state;
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and of construction methods for steel structures;
  • Personable and able to work easily with others at all levels;
  • Ability to set and track goals;
