Construction engineers manage construction projects, ensuring that they are scheduled and built in accordance with plans and specifications. These engineers typically are responsible for the design and safety of temporary structures used during construction. They may also oversee budgetary, time-management, and communications aspects of a project.

Our company is looking for a Construction Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to adapt in a fast-moving and changing culture;
  • Company’s existing facilities;
  • Attend site meetings, when necessary, to resolve specific issues or conflicts with the;
  • Develop preliminary drawings for buildings in the initial state of quoting;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
  • Develop plan views, cross section, construction details, etc. for the buildings to be constructed;
  • Other duties as assigned;
  • Company’s facilities and proposed improvements;
  • Preparation of engineering design reports, construction plans, and contract documents / technical specifications;
  • Collaborates with others with the ability to make autonomous decisions guided by policies, procedures and business objectives;
  • Coordinate construction activity with client, internal departments and contractors/public agencies;
  • Write and oversee the preparation of contract documents and technical reports;
  • Knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques and procedures;
  • Communicate to team members, the Project Manager, wider organization and external parties;
  • Receives technical and operational direction from the assigned Superintendent or Project Manager.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in studying or practicing Building Design/Engineering;
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and architectural drawings;
  • Knowledge of Construction methods and materials;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with drafting, architectural design or AutoCAD applications;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD architecture or related software;
  • Ability to perform relevant structural analysis;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related;
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities;
  • Proficient in proprietary software such as IDOT ICORS program;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
  • Civil/Heavy Civil experience (earthwork);
  • Earthwork estimation;
  • Chicago DOT and METRA construction experience preferred;
  • PE License;
  • Experience with IDOT/Tollway.
