Our company is looking for a Planning Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained;
  • Understands the basic principles, theories and concepts related to the profession and learns how to apply them within the ERCOT culture;
  • Assists in providing input and analyses from the planning perspective on market/protocol design issues;
  • Participates in multi functional teams to obtain input, address comments and perform studies;
  • Under direct supervision, participates in teams to obtain input, address comments and perform studies;
  • Ensure that all Special Orders are populated for the Regional Purchaser at the conclusion of each complexity meeting;
  • May provide on the job training or help oversee the work of other engineers/analysts;
  • Structures appropriate planning studies and sensitivity analyses to determine the need for improvements and evaluate proposed projects;
  • Works under the direction of a senior level engineer or supervisor/manager to complete departmental goals and assignments;
  • Helps develop improvements to transmission planning processes;
  • May act as mentor and advisor to less experienced engineers/analysts;
  • Participates with other ERCOT departments to select and implement system changes as needed;
  • Coordinates closely with the Client Service, System Operations and Network model to integrate new generators into the ERCOT system;
  • Learns how to use and develop software tools that enhance system reliability and departmental/organizational efficiencies;
  • Assists in developing tools, processes and procedures that enhance system reliability and departmental/organizational efficiencies.

Requirements:

  • High attention to detail, precision and quality;
  • Ability to read and create CAD files and cut sheets;
  • Interpersonal and leadership skills with high goal orientation;
  • Strong multi-tasking, time management & prioritization capabilities;
  • Demonstrates as sense of urgency as appropriate;
  • Ability to aptly use MS Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and California Closets CRM (CC Dashboard) and Cad software (3D Cadsoft);
  • Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills;
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently to drive agreed-upon company/departmental objectives.
