Structural Bridge Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Structural Bridge Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing contract bid documents including final plans, specifications and cost estimates for structural projects;
- Development of construction plans, cost estimates, specifications, and bid documents;
- Mentor junior engineers;
- Completing tasks within schedule and budget to the satisfaction of our public and private clients;
- Support business development including client meetings, proposal writing and client coordination;
- Assisting in preparation of construction contract documents, plans and reports;
- Performs calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software;
- Perform analysis and design of highway and transit bridges and other structures using multiple software packages;
- Assisting and/or leading bridge and culvert inspections;
- Seismic analysis experience preferred;
- Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions;
- Lead design task efforts for highway, roadway, transit, and bridge projects;
- Engineering analysis and oversight of PS&E production for highway and transit designs;
- Developing contract documents (plans, specifications, and cost estimates) for bridge and transportation projects;
- Performs engineering design and/or review of tasks on assigned projects.
Requirements:
- PE required;
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering;
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering;
- Able to work in a team environment;
- Ability to successfully pass a federal, state, and local security background check;
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies;
- Proficient in Structural design programs;
- Good communication skills and ability to work as a team member;
- Pre-employment drug screening;
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering;
- Knowledge of drafting software, AutoCAD or Microstation;
- U.S. Citizen, Green Card Resident or Work Authorization in the United States;
- PE License;
- 4+ years of professional Experience;
- Experience with AASHTO LRFD and LRFR; and familiarity with DOT manuals and procedures.
