Our company is looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Able to cooperate with other employees;
  • Performing minor exterior painting and repairs;
  • Assisting the Technicians with preparing apartments for new residents which may include cleaning, painting and light repairs;
  • Replace and repair door hardware, locks, and keys;
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations and customer service requests as assigned;
  • Replace light bulbs/lamps/ballasts and cleaning fixtures;
  • Remove trash to dumpsters;
  • Physically walk and inspect the building and grounds to correct minor problems and note/report areas of concern;
  • Attend in-service education programs in order to meet facility educational requirements;
  • Assisting with the overall operation of the Maintenance Department in accordance with current federal and state guidelines and regulations;
  • Assist with moving of household and office furniture;
  • Others as directed by the supervisor or administrator;
  • General labor duties around the construction site;
  • Notify Up North Plastics management of problems;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or graduate of a technical school;
  • Perform Essential Duties as outlined above;
  • Comply with the Residents’ Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures;
  • Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department;
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred;
  • Ability to operate a wide variety of maintenance equipment and tools, in particular leaf blower, toilet plunger, and hand tools;
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, including instruction manuals and labels on chemicals;
  • Patience and the ability to interact effectively with older adults who may have age-related communication and mobility challenges;
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language;
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions, in confined spaces, and on ladders;
  • Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly;
  • Must be capable of maintaining fulltime attendance;
  • Must have a current driver’s license with no more than 3 points;
  • Moderate to strong computer skills;
  • Ability to lift 35-50 pounds.
