Plant Accountant Job Description

Plant Accountant provides accounting services for a plant. Responsibilities include analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Being a Plant Accountant complies and prepares analysis and reports of accounting activity and data. Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and reconciliations. Additionally, Plant Accountant typically requires a bachelor’s degree of accounting or related field. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Plant Accountant gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. To be a Plant Accountant typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience.

Our company is looking for a Plant Accountant to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Capitalization of Fixed Assets including all related documentation;
  • Analysis and correction of ERP work order variances;
  • Analysis of labor costs and overhead expenses each week, throughout the month in comparison vs. budget, forecast, prior month, and prior year;
  • Daily plant productivity calculation, analysis, and report out;
  • Month-end close process and related journal entry preparation;
  • Assist Plant Controller in annual budget preparation and new standard cost setting (including work center rates);
  • Management of petty cash disbursements and receipts/replenishments including miscellaneous sales to employees;
  • Inventory Maintain accuracy in receiving, month end paperwork, inventory adjustments, usage, and costing.
