Application Administrator Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Application Administrator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Escalate urgent problems requiring more in-depth knowledge to appropriate internal resources; and;
- Update and maintain system documentation (Technical Manual, Design Specification, etc.);
- Lead and participate in software project implementations and major upgrade planning;
- Participate in the evaluation of new systems. Collaborate with technical teams to develop documentation, change management, and support standards;
- Perform deployments of application/product releases to production environments globally;
- Create workaround procedures when standard procedures have failed and ensure issues are resolved in a timely fashion;
- Provide system enhancements, development, improvement, documentation of processes and training where appropriate;
- Provide timely and accurate support for laboratory information management system and other supported applications for internal and external users;
- Monitors application performance and uptime via established IT monitoring practices and methods;
- License management;
- Light Scripting / API Consumption for reporting or data management;
- Subject Matter Expert on commercial-off-the-shelf applications and custom built applications;
- Manages workflows and in-application configurations to meet user needs;
- Working with clients on feature requests, upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
Requirements:
- Basic programming knowledge highly desirable;
- Proficient with Extensible Markup Language (XML) usage in application support, programming, and scripting;
- 8+ years of professional experience;
- Previous experience working in a commercial LIMS such as LabVantage is a plus;
- Strong analytical and communication skills;
- Proficient in at least one programming language;
- Clear and effective communicator – both oral and written;
- Experience being a Subject Matter Expert in both enterprise class applications as well as smaller, more specialized applications;
- Familiarity with Active Directory Federated Service and Azure Active Directory;
- Passionate about software and service development;
- Azure cloud certification;
- Ability to take ownership of an application and evangelize its proper use;
- Required Certifications as follows: Security +
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Mathematics, or related field or Bachelor of business administration, information systems;
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
