Database Administrator II manages and maintains the company database of medium to high complexity. Optimizes database configuration and access. Being a Database Administrator II resolves database performance and capacity issues. Performs database recovery and back-up. Our company is looking for a Database Administrator II to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours;
  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product life-cycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems;
  • Provide 24×7 support for critical production systems;
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes;
  • Provide Support for Production SSIS processes;
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end;
  • Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations;
  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement;
  • Provide Guidance to SSIS developers;
  • Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentor-ship and cross-training to other peers and team members.

Requirements:

  • Some programming skills such as Python is a plus;
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models;
  • Flexible, team player, “get-it-done” personality;
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment;
  • Experience with performance, tuning and optimization using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools;
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server;
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related or the equivalent work experience;
  • Microsoft Database certifications a plus;
  • Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory;
  • Ability to organize and plan work independently;
  • 3+ years of MS SQL Server Administration experience required;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication;
  • Hadoop experience is a plus;
  • Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams;
  • Can communicate fluently in English.
