Senior ETL Developer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior ETL Developer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review test data and execute detailed test plans. Complete any required debugging;
- Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand;
- Offhours and oncall production support may be required;
- Identify and enforce data standards and best practices to ensure consistent and maintainable structures in the database;
- Develop and maintain sourcetotarget mapping specifications for ETL development;
- Design and develop enterprise and departmental analytical engine and data warehousing solutions;
- Compliance with business policies and industry standard best practices with regard to data exchange and information security;
- Develop and implement schedule / dependency logic for automated ETL processing including data share from data warehouse;
- Work with business users to understand and document business and technical requirements to drive design and development;
- Analyse and evaluate data sources;
- Accountable for implementing architectural, developmental and operational standards and practices including creation of ETL metadata;
- Strong relational database and SQL skills required, with MS SQL/Server and Oracle preferred. An understanding of DB2 is a plus;
- Actively participate on project team meetings to achieve team goals and departmental goals;
- Designing and streamlining various inter and intra organization ETL processes;
- Designs and implements complex ETL processes.
Requirements:
- Experience in conversion/development experience with SQL (Structured Query Language), preferably Oracle database using SQL and PL/SQL;
- Experience programming in a Linux/UNIX environment including shell scripting;
- 7+ years of strong knowledge of DataStage with background in development of DataStage solutions;
- Team Oriented and can work independently;
- At least 5 years of experience with Informatica;
- Experience in an agile environment is a must;
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of incidents, and drive improvements through root cause analysis and lessons learned;
- Minimum 4 years of experience working with healthcare data and secure inbound and outbound data exchange;
- Broad knowledge in application software, technologies,
- Ability to work within a diverse, technically oriented, team setting is a must;
- Experience in Data Conversions is a huge plus;
- Willingness to participate in team oncall rotation, and perform off hours work as needed;
- Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years experience in design and implementation of ETL framework for complex data warehouse initiatives;
- Able to design scalable data models and data flows;
- Understanding of VLDB performance aspects, such as table partitioning, table distribution and optimization techniques.
