Sr Systems Engineer II Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Sr Systems Engineer II to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Be primary contact with technicians to troubleshoot storage issues and ensure solutions are incorporated into the storage configuration;
- Responsible for storage configuration of a storage upgrade that includes NAS servers, SAN services, VMs, and databases;
- Design and implement a fiber Channel fabric configuration;
- Maintain the design in the program documentation;
- Define the functions of the service in support of functional checkout;
- Lead and work with IT personnel for implementation of storage configurations;
- Lead and document studies to ensure the program s capacity, throughput, and latency storage requirements are met;
- Maintain contact with vendors for hardware and software installation and troubleshooting.
Requirements:
- Experience with orchestration tools – Rundeck, VMware Orchestrator;
- Scripting skills (i.e. PowerShell, Python, Ruby);
- Hands-on experience with virtualization tools and cloud computing, either private (VMware, OpenStack) or public (AWS) Systems integration experience;
- Experience with automation design and implementation using Unix/Linux command-line shell scripts;
- Experience with DISA STIGs;
- Understanding of Infrastructure as Code and demonstrated implementation;
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both written and oral;
- Experience with VMware– vCenter, ESXi, vSphere;
- Experience with automation design and implementation using Chef and Ruby (or similar products) for O/S builds, software installation and updates;
- Working knowledge of Brocade Fibre Channel switches;
- Working knowledge of Fibre Channel configurations on storage, fibre channel switches, tape libraries and servers, including multipath configurations;
- Understanding of DevOps concepts;
- Background in COTS product Installation;
- Strong scripting skills (i.e. PowerShell, Python, Ruby, bash, etc.);
- Background in Systems Operations environment supporting complex environment deployment and management activities.
