Construction Laborer Job Description

Construction laborers , also referred to as construction craft laborers , perform a wide variety of construction-related activities during all phases of construction. Many laborers spend their time preparing and cleaning up construction sites, using tools such as shovels and brooms. Other workers, such as those on road crews, may specialize and learn to control traffic patterns and operate pavement breakers, jackhammers, earth tampers, or surveying equipment.

Our company is looking for a Construction Laborer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting team carpenters;
  • Professional appearance and demeanor;
  • Shoveling;
  • Ability to perform carpentry tasks such as (metal stud framing, drywall, compound, and tape);
  • Hang boards, pictures, signs, and other wall fastened items;
  • Cleans work areas, tools, equipment, materials etc;
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required;
  • Operate various power tools, skid loaders, air compressors, forklifts, and other related tools and equipment in performing described duties;
  • Perform testing of concrete, soil, aggregate, and masonry construction materials;
  • Picking up, sorting, and delivering inventory;
  • Moving, securing, installing, building, and loading or unloading materials;
  • Moving dirt or other material as directed in plans or by supervisor;
  • Stock out materials for job;
  • Level concrete and earth using trowels and shovels;
  • demo work, etc.

Requirements:

  • Experience in concrete, landscape, irrigation and skid steer operation is helpful, but not required;
  • Must have reliable transportation;
  • Must have a high school diploma;
  • Experience working with equipment such as: boom lifts, scissor lifts, and forklifts;
  • Must be willing to work 65+ hours a week during the summer months;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Strong working knowledge of job site safety;
  • Minor plumbing and minor electrical knowledge is a plus but not required;
  • Walk, stand and climb scaffold 8hrs;
  • Must be reliable and self-motivated;
  • Willingness to undertake training if necessary;
  • Perform necessary tasks in a safe manner;

  • Ability to read, write and do basic mathematical calculations;
  • Dependable and reliable.
