Hygienist Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Hygienist to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays);
- performing documentation and office management activities;
- applying preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides);
- counseling patients about good nutrition and its impact on oral health;
- making impressions of patients’ teeth for study casts (models of teeth used by dentists to evaluate patient treatment needs);
- Maintain documentation and charts on each patient;
- Take X-rays or dental impressions;
- Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures;
- Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination;
- Sterilize dental instruments properly;
- Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque or apply fluoride);
- Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques);
- Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases (including oral cancer);
- Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history;
- Monitor supplies.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Dental Hygiene;
- Laser Certified is a plus;
- Outstanding communication skills;
- Proven experience as Dental Hygienist or similar role;
- Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job;
- Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment;
- Valid licence to practice;
- A patient and friendly personality;
- Attention to detail;
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPAA).
