Our company is looking for a Inpatient Coder to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for responding to Patient Financial Services questions regarding coding assignments that generate errors within the billing editor;
  • Responsible for maintaining an overall coding accuracy rate of 90% or greater and a DRG accuracy rate of 95% or greater;
  • Responsible for final coding and DRG accuracy on all inpatient accounts;
  • Prompts medical staff physicians for additional documentation as needed to clarify DRG assignment, maintaining professional communication;
  • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes to arrive at a DRG based on information provided in the patient record.

Requirements:

  • Must have a CCS Accredited by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA);
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of IP coding experience;
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease process, pharmacology, complex surgical procedures;
  • Ability to code and maintain >95% quality standards and meet productivity standards as documented for each project;
  • Credentials to include one or a combination of the following: RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS. Additional credentials are preferred but not required;
  • Must have extensive knowledge of Coding Clinic, and all official coding guidelines including UHDDS;
  • Three years or greater of inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility. Teaching facility or Level I or II trauma center experience a plus.
