Registered Nurse RN Cardiovascular Operating Room Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Registered Nurse RN Cardiovascular Operating Room to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures the proper handling of specimens;
- Participates in the care of patients receiving conscious sedation;
- Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems;
- Maintains aseptic techniques and actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique;
- Provides nursing care to the patient undergoing surgical procedures;
- Carries out physician orders;
- Orients and mentors new staff members;
- Administers prescribed medications, applies dressings, monitors vital signs;
- Provides comfort and support for pre-operative patients;
- Assesses, plans and evaluates the nursing care needs of the patient before, during and after a surgical procedure;
- Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care;
- Provides age and culturally appropriate care;
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required;
- Assists physician during procedures;
- Coordinates the operating room with respect to sterility, cleanliness, availability of functioning equipment and supplies.
Requirements:
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment;
- 2 year Associate Degree/Diploma;
- CNOR preferred;
- 2-3 years of recent experience working in Cardiovascular Operating Room;
- Current licensure as an RN;
- Customer service abilities including effective listening skills;
- Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider and ACLS.
