Auto Service Technician Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Auto Service Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications;
- Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment;
- Tag & save parts, turn in parts, if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer;
- Perform routine maintenance/major repairs assigned with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership;
- Understand/follow federal/state/local regulation, governing service repair work;
- Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair as authorized;
- Road-test vehicles to ensure repair has addressed customer complaint;
- Perform complete MPI and 27 point used care inspection;
- Administer safety & housekeeping policies/procedures;
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts;
- Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins;
- Document & quality check work performed;
- Ensure that work area and customers’ vehicle are kept clean.
Requirements:
- Strong automotive background;
- Must have clean & valid driver’s license;
- Willing to submit to a drug screen & background check;
- Strong teamwork skills;
- At least 1-2 years of experience as a Service Technician preferred;
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals;
- Ability to regularly lift/move up to 25 lbs;
- Must have diagnostic ability in chassis, drive & electrical;
- Must have own tools;
- Ability to read, analyze & interpret technical procedures;
- Current, valid driver’s license & satisfactory MVR;
- Customer service, computer & organizational skills;
- Basic mathematical skills & reasoning ability.
