Diesel Truck Technician Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Diesel Truck Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist managers and clerical staff in completing necessary paperwork;
- Become qualified, certified state inspector, as required;
- Other duties as assigned;
- Keep up to date on all warranty policies and product changes;
- Completes paperwork as required to accurately document the work performed on vehicles;
- Performs trouble shooting on major problems;
- Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools;
- Advises the Leadman/Shop Foreman if additional repair work is needed;
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts;
- Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended;
- Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair;
- Other tasks as assigned;
- Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events;
- Keep shop area neat and clean;
- Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
Requirements:
- Requires 1 to 3 years directly related experience;
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus special technical training are desired;
- Mechanical knowledge of diesel and gasoline powered vehicles;
- Lifting Requirements;
- Ability to work in seasonal heat and cold; amidst noise, dust, and fumes;
- Ability to use pneumatic tools;
- Lifting 50 lbs waist to shoulder;
- Lifting 50 lbs floor to shoulder;
- Carrying 50 lbs on a regular basis;
- Hearing;
- Ability to work alone and under stress;
- Lifting 50 lbs floor to waist;
- Near & midrange vision;
- Walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting and reaching;
- Using hands, wrists, elbows and shoulder for repetitive motion tasks.
