Head of Finance Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Head of Finance to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Budget management: Partner with functional leaders to optimize business efficiency while meeting plan;
- Financial planning: Own Coalition’s financial and operational forecasting models;
- Provide metrics-driven insight on business performance and partner with other functions to drive informed decision making;
- Manage the Concur expense reporting system to ensure employees understand the system, submit reports, and receive reimbursements in a timely manger;
- Accomplish successful imports of Concur data into general ledger system;
- Manage the Concur invoice reporting system to ensure correct and timely payments to vendors and proper account coding and allocation to cost centers;
- Active management of the vendor master files, ensuring correct u to date vendor card information;
- Assist in year-end audit process by providing invoice and T&E back-up as requested;
- Administer training to new hires on the Concur system and process;
- Maintain appropriate policies and procedures around the vendor payment process and periodically communicate such policies to the firm;
- Treasury functions that include proper cash management and analysis of investment portfolio , in compliance with NYRR investment guidelines;
- Assist management team in communication with board and external stakeholders;
- Facilitate ad-hoc and cross-functional strategic and operational projects and execute on strategic projects independently and with Business leaders;
- Overseeing management of the f inance d epartment (team of ~20);
- Provide detailed analyses on trends that will assist in decision making and corporate planning.
Requirements:
- Prior experience with a technology or high end consumer products company is preferred;
- Relevant certification (e.g. CFA/CPA) is a plus;
- Prior leadership roles with ability to develop teams;
- Experience leading finance within a globally distributed organization;
- MBA, CFA and/or CPA preferred;
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, working towards a degree, or significant proven work experience;
- Background in corporate finance, venture-backed startups, M&A, or other high-growth, entrepreneurial environments;
- Confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information;
- Familiarity with finance databases;
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
- Ability to manage a high-volume, fast paced vendor payment process;
- 15+ years of relevant work experience, including 5+ years of leading finance teams;
- Excellent analytical skills;
- Expertise in MS Excel (creating spreadsheets and using advanced formulas);
- 2+ years experience in strategic finance in a large public software company.
