Media Planner is responsible for research and development of media plans and identifying target audiences and ideal media outlets. Recommends media mix and frequency that is in line with the budget and established media objectives. Being a Media Planner may require a bachelor’s degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Media Planner gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. To be a Media Planner typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience.

Our company is looking for a Media Planner to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with media buying team in China;
  • Overseeing inventory procurement, including contracting, spec gathering, and ad trafficking;
  • Support the execution of strategy, provide brand stewardship and maintain strong client satisfaction on assigned brand(s);
  • Develop briefs, client reports, and key agency documentation under guidance of senior staff;
  • Research and coordinate with team to determine the best media outlet mix for our campaigns;
  • Planning and buying of paid media across digital, social, mobile, print, radio, television and out-of-home channels as needed;
  • Researching potential media partners and evaluating opportunities;
  • Coordinate day-to-day as well as long-term schedules of key agency management;
  • Collaborating with Creative team to develop breakthrough ideas and programs;
  • Execute self-service platform campaign buys with training (eg. Google, Facebook, etc.);
  • Managing program budgets, invoicing and billing reconciliation;
  • Develop client-facing relationship and servicing skills to better provide efficient deployment to our partners and clients;
  • Optimize ad campaigns according to geographic exposure, frequency, time spans and more;
  • Collaborating with Analytics team to ensure proper tagging, reporting, insights and optimization strategies are in place;
  • Managing in-market campaigns to ensure performance, delivery and optimizations are on track.

Requirements:

  • Must be goal-oriented and exhibit a high level of professionalism;
  • Experience with media buying platforms a plus (MediaOcean, Adazzle, Nexelus, etc.);
  • Strong understanding of all forms of media planning, including demand generation, lead generation and branding;
  • Experience with syndicated data sources and tools (e.g. GfK MRI, Telmar, Nielsen);
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and work effectively within a fast-paced agency environment;
  • Must be assertive, highly motivated and have strong communications skills;
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Mandarin;
  • Effective time management skills – ability to prioritize and meet deadlines;
  • Understanding of paid social advertising platforms (Facebook, Instagram etc.);
  • Proven experience as a Media Planner; experience in digital media is preferred;
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills with extreme attention to detail;
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills (written & verbal);
  • Graduate of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Associate’s degree program focused on Business, Communication, Marketing, and Market Research fields;
  • Curiosity about the ever-changing media landscape, and desire to share latest industry trends and developments with broader team.
