Payroll Supervisor is responsible for processing company payroll. Ensures accurate calculation of wages, tax withholding, and company deductions. Being a Payroll Supervisor prepares statistical reports on employee pay, commissions and bonuses; vacation, sick, disability and workers compensation leave; taxes, withholding, etc. Oversees the distribution of paychecks or arranges direct deposit programs. Ensures payroll records are updated and reports on any matters of interest. Additionally, Payroll Supervisor typically requires a bachelor’s degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Payroll Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Responsibilities:
- Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure;
- Ensure payroll is processed in compliance with multi-state wage and hour laws;
- Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy;
- GL Upload and JE reconciliation;
- Perform special projects or other duties as requested;
- Work with the proper channels with regards to system issues (ADP; WD; Oracle, etc);
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines;
- Utilize ADP eTime for Time and Attendance Self-Service Portal for pay statements, direct deposit and tax changes;
- Manage work flow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely;
- Liaison with Employee Resources Group on Bereavement, FMLA, etc;
- Create reports for executive team after payroll processing;
- Maintain validation tables in ADP;
- Perform daily payroll department operational tasks;
- Manage Payroll Coordinator;
- Send out requests to all Managers/Team Sups to approve time sheets.
Requirements:
- Experience with Canada payroll is a plus;
- Flexible personal style to work with diverse personalities. Professional, yet personable demeanor;
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of payroll processing experience for a multi-state employer with multiple offices;
- A committed teammate, detail oriented and an effective communicator;
- Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook;
- Knowledge of state and federal wage and tax laws and overtime requirements;
- Experience with Expat payroll a plus;
- Experience with ADP a plus;
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience working with multi-state payroll system is desired;
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration is required;
- CPP, PHR, or SHRM-CP is preferred;
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft Payroll 9.2, Kronos Workforce 6.3 and ADP is strongly preferred.
