SEO Director Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a SEO Director to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Recommend changes to website architecture, content, linking and other factors to improve SEO positions for target keywords;
- Assist with building and optimizing the internal linking strategy to maximize rankings;
- Directs team to manage client expectations, deliverables and timelines;
- Conduct natural search research;
- Collaborating with client’s technical group in order to implement proposed recommendations;
- Direct, participate in and report findings of comprehensive client Website Audits & Competitive Search Analyses;
- Develop, manage and provide SEO related reporting for clients and in-house management teams;
- Conduct key phrase research for organic search and YouTube;
- Ability to lead and assist with site architecture discussions and inform taxonomy decisions as we build out the site;
- Works directly with clients to plan & implement online campaigns & SEO strategies that align with client KPIs and marketing goals;
- Models the way for the SEO team to stay on top of SEO industry changes, social trends and search engine updates;
- Adept at explaining difficult concepts using simple language and graphics;
- Create a robust SEO strategy for our business venture, including a roadmap of initiatives to drive growth;
- Create monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc reports per client’s business specs;
- Mentors team members on SEO best practices & strategies and account management techniques.
Requirements:
- Enjoy problem solving and have the ability to adapt to new technologies and processes;
- Cross-functional experience, as this person will have SEO influence across all teams in the organization;
- Communication Skills – speaks and writes clearly and articulately without being over verbose or talkative. Great listener;
- In-depth experience with website analytics tools ( e.g , Google Analytics, NetInsight , Omniture, WebTrends );
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills—the ability to work with others as well as the confidence and skill to communicate ideas independently;
- Provide training and education for non-SEO team members and clients;
- Proven history of successful SEO strategy creation and implementation;
- Experience as a SEO copywriter with an understanding of how to write for both users and search engines at once;
- Results driven with strong business acumen;
- Organization and P lanning – plans, organizes, schedules and budgets in an efficient, productive manner. Focuses on key priorities;
- A passion for connecting queries to content, and a commitment to making sure the client’s relevant content is found by those who are looking for it;
- Exceptional organizational skills and can stay up-to-date with SEO industry trends;
- A proven record of page placement and website optimization;
- Solid understanding of content marketing, performance marketing, conversion, and online customer acquisition;
- Be a proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently while collaborating with other departments.
