Medical Front Office Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Medical Front Office to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all other duties as requested;
- Travel to non -home location clinic or other site for training or coverage when necessary;
- Answer and direct telephone calls;
- Perform general clerical functions including a working knowledge of all front desk duties;
- Adjust work schedule, in the even the need of the facility changes;
- Obtain patient billing information in order to maintain current and accurate information in patient files;
- Maintain a system of controls for cash receipts, and daily reconciliation processes to ensure proper handling of monies received;
- Coordinate patient charts and appointments to ensure timely service;
- Optimizes patients’ satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone;
- Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries;
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed;
- Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records;
- Answer phones and make appointment reminder calls;
- Insurance verification;
- Electronic Scheduling.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in computer software use, including Work, Excel, and Outlook;
- At least 2 years of previous doctor’s office experience;
- Bilingual a plus, but not required;
- Very energetic and self motivated;
- Have an understanding of insurances and co-pays;
- Have knowledge of insurance verification procedures and websites;
- Have knowledge of insurance referrals and how to build them;
- Experience with phones and scheduling;
- Experience with check-in and check-out processes of a medical office;
- Team player;
- Knowledge of eClinicalWorks or similar EMR;
- Customer service experience in healthcare environment preferred;
- Minimum 2 years medical office experience, preferably in a surgical practice;
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
- Basic knowledge of insurance plans, including Medicare, commercial, auto accident coverage.
