Automation Manager Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Automation Manager to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day activities, goal setting, performance management, and development of the team;
- Provide expert knowledge of products and automation solutions to key accounts, with the goal of providing consultative scientific support;
- Provide technical expertise during regulatory audits as well as face to face interaction with regulatory auditors;
- Manage all automation projects according to agreed timelines and report on progress;
- Manage team budget, including travel and expense reporting, as well as operational cost of the Automation projects;
- Responsible for preparing budget estimates, ensuring adequate PO creation through approval and recruiting additional resources as necessary;
- Ability to travel (50 – 75% of the time) to work in the field with Sales to attend customer meetings and scientific conferences;
- Develop the Automation roadmap for Sequencing & Life Sciences through both internal stakeholder management and external vendor collaborations;
- Directing automation engineering activities for the entire Oakland, California plant;
- Mentor team members and provide support for their career development goals;
- Directing the activities of the automation engineering group – provide direction & work priority.
Requirements:
- Chemical or Mechanical or equivalent engineering degree required;
- Strategic thinking mindset and experience in developing project roadmaps;
- 3+ years of experience in RPA with one of the markets leading RPA platforms: Automation Anywhere, BluePrism and/or UiPath ;
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills;
- Demonstrated capability in both the technical and management scope of this role;
- Demonstrated experience in developing and empowering employees to achieve success;
- Prior project engineering and/or technical management experience;
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire technical groups;
- 15+ years of relevant engineering experience, pharmaceutical/biotechnology preferred;
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering;
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical, Chemical engineering (or similar);
- Experience working in a regulated GMP environment;
- Ability to travel up to 50-60%
- Demonstrated ability to interact well with peers and across all levels of the organization;
- Minimum 3 years of process design and process improvement experience .
