Technical Sales Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Technical Sales Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Comfortable with Agile based software delivery methodologies;
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft/AWS technologies;
- Collaborate with engineers and sales team to promote the sale of products/services/technical support;
- May provide technical training to clients and communicate customer feedback for future product development;
- Confer with customers to assess potential application of company products or services and offer solutions that meet customer requirements or needs;
- Use technical knowledge of product offerings to support and build sales;
- Generate new business and ensures growth of existing accounts;
- Work with customers and production engineering to determine how products or services could be designed or modified to best accommodate the customer;
- Develop, prepare and present sales proposal/quotation to customer; secure or renew orders;
- May diagnose problems with product or installed machinery and/or provide consultation;
- Plan and modify product configurations to meet customer needs.
Requirements:
- Polyglot programmer, with experience using technologies such as Python, R, SQL;
- High level of job and technical knowledge, organization, follow-through; effective management of time and resources;
- Active listening and negotiation skills; persuasiveness and ability to influence others; social perceptiveness;
- A willingness and ability to travel to client locations;
- Principles of customer service; problem sensitivity, interpersonal/relationship management;
- Machine learning knowledge/experience;
- Advanced quantitative technical degree (MS or PhD) preferred;
- Hands-on experience with traditional data warehouse technologies;
- Deep understanding of data integration and transformation patterns such as messaging, ETL;
- Analytical and critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making;
- BS, MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or similarly quantitative/technical field;
- DevOps and/or cloud solutions deployment experience a plus;
- Effective oral, written and telephonic communication skills; interpersonal skills; leadership and computer literacy;
- Experience building enterprise applications, including integration with COTS systems;
- Experience with any of the following technologies: Hadoop, Spark, ElasticSearch, Java, AWS.
