Equipment Operator Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Equipment Operator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading;
- Keep time and material records;
- Knowledge of weight requirements of loads leaving the pit;
- Locate utilities and other buried lines prior to digging;
- Flagging / Directing traffic as it comes through;
- Perform daily pre-and-post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies;
- Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required;
- Strong knowledge of tying & specific uses of tree-industry knots;
- Assuring that all lines are kept clear at all times;
- Keeping tools in the staging area and safe zone;
- Knowledge of stump grinder and chipper maintenance;
- Being a reliable member of the team responsive to visual cues and hand signals from the Climber and acting promptly with ground support;
- General knowledge of crane operations;
- Must be able to estimate load size for a vehicle and not over or under load a truck;
- Remove empty skids from the warehouse.
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license;
- At least 1 year of work experience. Preferably in a blue collar type position where you utilize customer service skills;
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence;
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions;
- Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen;
- Experience driving a vacuum truck, forklift, dozer, excavator preferred;
- Education from a technical school in a related field preferred (welding, electrical, maintenance etc.) preferred;
- Knowledge and experience with safety regulations, i.e. OSHA, MSHA, as they apply to the operation a plus but not required;
- Experience operating a loader required, experience operating a skid steer, dozer, excavator, and/or haul truck highly preferred;
- High school graduate or GED certificate preferred;
- Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required;
- Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions;
- Must possess valid DOT medical card;
- A valid Commercial Driver’s License is preferred but not required;
- Ability to fuel, oil, grease and otherwise service, repair and make normal operating adjustments to equipment during a scheduled workday.
