Transportation Driver Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Transportation Driver to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Work regular/overtime hours depending on the season (Spring Planting & Harvest);
- Obtaining receipts and signatures for delivered goods;
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles;
- Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions, and routes;
- Other duties as assigned;
- Light Maintenance: changing light bulbs, batteries in smoke detectors and thermostats, etc;
- Accompany residents on shopping trips and provide assistance as needed;
- Develop and recommend policies and procedures for proper vehicle maintenance;
- Accept on-call responsibilities as assigned by supervisor;
- Arrange transportation for activity outings and regularly scheduled group trips;
- Assist clients as they get into and out of the vehicle;
- Report back to the supervisor when clients have been dropped off at their destination;
- Report any incidents or accidents to the supervisor;
- Safely moves vehicles between airport and off-airport locations;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining high energy.
Requirements:
- Workers subject to weather conditions including snow and ice;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Incident free driving record preferred;
- Must be at least 20 years of age;
- Basic computer skills preferred;
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record;
- Basic math;
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent;
- MUST have a current valid driver’s license, and be able to drive a manual transmission;
- One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Knowledge of and compliance of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, as well as State and/or Local Department of Motor Vehicle regulations;
- May be subject drug and alcohol, medical exams and physical agilities testing;
- Flexibility in scheduling which may include nights weekends and holidays;
- Ability to communicate using two-way radio;
- Work requires the ability to read, write and communicate in English in order to understand work, safety instructions and comply with DOT.
