Medical Assistant
Provides direct patient care, and/or one to one observation to selected patients under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse. Assists, escorts and transports patients.
Safety and Constant/One to One observation to selected patients under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse

• Provides minor treatments as directed - dressings, application of ace bandages, applications of slings and ice, pediculosis
• Assists with application of casts and splints
• applies or assists with application
• Sets-up, stocks, and maintains examining rooms
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned area

Age Specific Competencies (Neonate/Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric)

• Participates in the Department of Nursing Quality Improvement Program/activities
• Meets regulatory, licensure and annual health assessment requirements

Displays courtesy, tact and patience during interactions with all members of the hospital staff and extended community

• Adheres to Mount Sinai Morningside/West legal and ethical standards
• Items 1-25 are essential functions of this position under the Americans with Disabilities Act

Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant Program or equivalent.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical Assistant experience preferred
Spanish speaking preferred,
Ability to read, write and comprehend English.
