Travel - Registered Nurse (RN) - Oncology / Hematology - Nights

American Traveler is seeking a Chemo-Certified Oncology RN for a night shift position in an acute leukemia and hematology unit, requiring a minimum of two years of nursing experience and active ONS Chemo Certification.

Requirements

Active OH RN license or Compact RN license required

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and ONS Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Certification

NIHSS certification preferred

Minimum of 2 years of overall nursing experience required

Med/Surg oncology experience required, with at least 1 year of inpatient hematology/oncology experience

Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias

Demonstrated experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs

Experience with feeding tube care and management

Familiarity with Rapid Response Team protocols

2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; co-worker references are not accepted

Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be completed promptly after accepting the position

Responsibilities

Position is based in an acute leukemia and hematology unit within a hospital oncology setting

Primary patient population includes newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients, adults and geriatrics

High-volume unit with frequent blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management

Goal staffing ratio is 1:4, with the possibility of 1:5 based on unit needs

Shift is nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30)

Schedule is self-directed with no set/blocked scheduling; self-schedule requests are considered before finalization

If accepting a rotating day/night contract, shift assignments may include days, nights, or a combination, reviewed every 4-week scheduling period

Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs

Charting is performed in Epic

Telemetry monitoring is utilized on this unit

Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention

Orientation consists of the first week on Mon-Fri day shifts, followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor

First-time travelers are not eligible for this position

Local candidates are accepted

Former employees of the facility are eligible for a travel assignment after a minimum 6-month separation

Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration and is limited to 7 days or fewer for the contract duration

All requested time off must be built into the contract
