Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join a dedicated Wound Care team in a supportive healthcare environment located in the Midwest region of the United States. This full-time day position offers a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:50 am to 4:30 pm, with weekend call rotation approximately every seventh weekend.

The role focuses on delivering patient- and family-centered nursing care that exemplifies best practices and outstanding customer service. The nurse will uphold professional nursing standards guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, state nursing practice acts, and regulatory agency requirements.

Key Responsibilities

A. Assessment

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and reassessments across all age groups, identifying physical, psychosocial, cultural, religious, safety, infection control, and environmental factors relevant to patient education.
• Gather and interpret data from patients, families, and healthcare providers to support health promotion, maintenance, and restoration.
• Apply advanced unit-specific assessment skills to address medical and nursing care needs.
• Adapt teaching methods based on the learning capabilities of patients and their significant others.
• Document assessment findings thoroughly and respond appropriately to patient conditions and laboratory results.
• Maintain up-to-date educational resources, equipment, and materials.

B. Planning

• Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop individualized teaching plans and discharge or transfer follow-up strategies.
• Incorporate pharmacological, dietary, and physical/occupational therapy interventions into care plans.
• Adjust teaching plans based on patient physical and emotional changes as well as feedback from patients and families.
• Prepare patients and families for outpatient education as needed.

C. Implementation

• Adhere to OSHA regulations and safety principles in patient education and daily practice.
• Follow institutional safety, fire, disaster, and hazardous waste protocols.
• Document patient and family education accurately using multidisciplinary education forms, narrative notes, and teaching checklists.
• Communicate significant patient condition changes and education responses to physicians and healthcare teams.
• Verify medication doses and treatment orders, clarify physician instructions, and schedule outpatient programs.
• Serve as a liaison for patient education with medical staff and participate in community education initiatives.

Education and Experience

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred.
• Proficiency with computer skills is necessary.

Licensure and Certifications

• Current active Registered Nurse licensure by the appropriate state board is required.
• Area-specific education such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications may be required and maintained upon hire.

Work Shift: 1st Shift, 40 hours per week.
