Gradient Mortgage Capital is seeking an ambitious and results-driven Account Executive to develop and manage client relationships while driving new business growth. This role is responsible for building a strong personal book of business, promoting the company’s mortgage products and services, and consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with strong prospecting skills, a consultative sales approach, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment. Gradient Mortgage Capital is a wholesale mortgage banking platform specializing in Small Balance Commercial Real Estate (SBCRE) and Investor Residential DSCR lending. We work directly with mortgage brokers and bankers — not consumers — to originate business-purpose loans for real estate investors nationwide. Our financing focuses on income-producing properties such as rental portfolios, multifamily, mixed-use, and other commercial assets. Loans are primarily underwritten based on property cash flow, deal structure, and investor experience, rather than traditional owner-occupied income qualification. About the Role Our Account Executives operate in a technical wholesale lending environment where success comes from becoming a trusted lending resource to mortgage brokers and bankers. In this role, the Account Executive is expected to: Build and manage relationships with mortgage brokers and bankers Review scenarios and structure deals prior to submission Understand DSCR and commercial underwriting concepts (LTV, cash flow, property types) Educate partners on guidelines and execution strategy Work directly with underwriting and operations to close loans Generate repeat production through expertise and responsiveness Our sales cycle is consultative and credit-driven, not transactional. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, grow, and manage a personal book of business by identifying, prospecting, and onboarding new clients. Build and maintain strong client relationships through consistent communication, responsiveness, and high-quality service. Promote and sell the company’s mortgage programs and services within an assigned territory. Develop and execute effective sales strategies to achieve individual production goals and drive revenue growth. Maintain an active and accurate sales pipeline, ensuring timely follow-up and progression of opportunities. Accurately track and report all sales activity, pipeline updates, and client interactions in the company’s CRM system. Collaborate with the Vice President, Regional Sales Manager, and internal teams to align efforts and meet production objectives. Qualify inbound leads and prospects through phone, email, and virtual communication channels. Conduct outbound prospecting, including cold calling and relationship-based outreach, to generate new opportunities. Present company products, programs, and value propositions during virtual and in-person client meetings. Organize and participate in regular client meetings to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for growth. Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows as needed to expand the company’s professional network. Participate in weekly sales meetings and one-on-one meetings with management. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. Required Qualifications and Skills Strong sales, negotiation, and closing skills with a proven ability to build lasting client relationships. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly organized with strong time-management and follow-up abilities. Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced sales environment. Proficiency with CRM systems and sales productivity tools. Knowledge of mortgage products, lending processes, and industry terminology preferred. Professional demeanor with strong presentation and interpersonal skills. Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills with experience building and scaling sales teams. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in mortgage sales, financial services sales, or a related field preferred. Demonstrated success in prospecting, pipeline management, and achieving sales targets. Demonstrated success recruiting, managing, and developing sales professionals.
