Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Learning And Development Specialist to support a short-term organizational development and learning initiative. This consultant will partner closely with the Human Resources team to create a structured approach to employee and manager development.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable coming into an organization, quickly assessing current needs, and turning those findings into a practical plan. This individual will help develop learning programs, evaluate outside vendors and assessment tools, and create a clear roadmap that can be carried forward by the internal team.

Key Responsibilities

• Review current learning and development offerings and identify opportunities to strengthen employee and manager development.
• Develop a structured learning and development framework, including goals, target audiences, learning paths, success measures, and budget considerations.
• Help create a formal manager training program focused on leadership and management competencies.
• Research and evaluate outside training providers, including managing the RFP/vendor review process and recommending the best solution based on program needs and cost.
• Develop a menu of employee learning opportunities covering areas such as communication, project management, technical and digital skills, professional development, and wellbeing.
• Evaluate commonly used leadership and personality assessment tools, such as DiSC, MBTI, CliftonStrengths, and Hogan , and recommend the best option for organization-wide use.
• Develop internal learning opportunities that build employees' understanding of the organization's mission, industry, members, and work.
• Recommend engaging learning formats, including lunch-and-learns, internal speaker sessions, onboarding resources, self-paced learning, and live or cohort-based training.
• Create a clear implementation playbook outlining the learning calendar, budget, vendor needs, responsibilities, and measures for evaluating success.
• Partner with HR leadership and key stakeholders to ensure recommendations are practical and aligned with organizational needs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in change management, learning and development, talent management, organizational development, or a related area .
• Experience developing organization-wide learning, talent, or employee development programs.
• Strong experience managing vendor selection processes, including RFPs, vendor evaluations, pricing comparisons, and negotiations.
• Familiarity with leadership and personality assessment tools such as DiSC, MBTI, CliftonStrengths, or Hogan. Certification in at least one assessment is preferred.
• Ability to quickly assess needs, make recommendations, and deliver against firm deadlines.
• Strong communication, facilitation, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-moving consulting environment.
• Previous experience supporting a nonprofit, trade association, or similarly structured organization is preferred.
• Existing relationships or familiarity with training and assessment vendors is a plus.

This opportunity would be a strong fit for someone who has a blend of change management, organizational development, and L&D experience and enjoys building programs from the ground up. The consultant should be strategic but also hands-on, with the ability to move quickly from assessment and planning into vendor selection and implementation.
