University Police Officer 2 The University Police Department is recruiting experienced, lateral, out-of-state, military, and recently retired law enforcement officers to serve UNLV and the Nevada System of Higher Education. Candidates who seek a professional, community-focused environment with a balanced workload are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Patrol and protect university campuses and surrounding areas. Investigate criminal and non-criminal incidents. Enforce traffic regulations and investigate collisions. Provide event security and manage large-scale campus operations. Engage the community with students, faculty, and staff. Appear in court and prepare reports. Qualifications High school graduation or equivalent with one year of law‑enforcement experience; or associate degree in criminal justice, police science, psychology, or a closely related field with six months of law‑enforcement experience; or one year as University Police Officer I in Nevada state service. Valid driver’s license at the time of appointment. Must meet Nevada POST Category I requirements. Ability to pass pre-employment screening for controlled substances and optional psychological/polygraph testing. Strong judgment, communication, and integrity.
