Special Education Teacher in Ann Arbor, MI

Job Description

Make a difference in the lives of students across all grade levels by supporting their learning and growth as a Special Education Teacher in a vibrant educational community. This long-term, full-time contract role offers the rewarding opportunity to impact early learning elementary, middle, or high school students—openings are available at each level, so you can use your expertise where it matters most.

Qualifications:

Valid Michigan teaching certification with Special Education endorsement (must provide certification upon application)
Experience working with early learning, middle, or high school-aged students in a special education capacity
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Passion for supporting diverse learners and fostering inclusive educational environments
Familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs and using evidence-based instructional strategies

Responsibilities:

Deliver individualized and group instruction aligned with students’ IEPs, adapting lessons to meet differentiated needs
Assess student progress and make data-driven instructional decisions
Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure student success
Maintain accurate documentation and timely progress reporting according to state and federal requirements
Participate in IEP meetings and contribute actively to the support team
Create a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment for all students

This role runs from August 31, 2026, through June 4, 2027, offering a chance to connect and build lasting relationships with students, families, and staff.
