Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Contract Negotiator II for the Office for Research. The Office for Research’s mission is to support the research, scholarship, and creative endeavors of all Rutgers faculty. The Office accomplishes its mission by convening with academic and research leaders, providing integrated, user‑focused resources, services, and tools, and partnering with faculty. As part of the Office for Research, the Contract Negotiator II works under the supervisory direction of the Research Contract Services Executive Director, Associate Director and senior staff to support the Office for and Rutgers research and clinical‑related contracting efforts. Contracts supported by the Contract Negotiator II include but are not limited to nondisclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, and other simple agreements with modest or no contract value. Responsibilities Develops negotiation strategy for each contract engagement. Negotiates contracts with external parties and drafts contracts in compliance with Rutgers policies, values, operations, and applicable laws and regulations. Prepares final contracts for execution by the Institution’s Authorized Official. Communicates with Rutgers stakeholders concerning contract status and contract lifecycle management. Maintains accurate and complete contract negotiation files/history, significant telephone conversation summaries, contract files. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of contract management and research administrative principles and practices. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in a research administrative function. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent communication skills. Computer literacy. Basic understanding of research‑related contracts including data use agreements, material transfer agreements, and nondisclosure agreements, contract law and construction principles.
