Accounting Clerk / Accounts Payable SpecialistA well-established company in Waldwick, NJ is seeking an experienced Accounting Clerk / Accounts Payable Specialist to provide maternity leave coverage beginning in September.This position is heavily focused on Accounts Payable, particularly project-related AP. Candidates with experience in the construction or service industry will be especially helpful, as the role involves working closely with Purchasing and Project Managers to ensure invoices match parts orders and that the company is paying accurately for materials received.ResponsibilitiesScan invoices and supporting documents and accurately enter data into the accounting system.Process project-related and general Accounts Payable transactions.Assist with vendor payments and maintain/update vendor information.Communicate with Purchasing and Project Managers to resolve invoice, parts order, and receiving discrepancies.Verify invoices against parts orders and project requirements.Assist with payroll entry, including work hours, job numbers, and cost codes.Assist with Accounts Receivable functions and make collection calls as assigned.Open and sort accounting mail and process outgoing mail.Reconcile credit card payments and enter employee expense reports.Generate reports, check data, scan documents, and maintain electronic files.Provide backup and cross-training support to other members of the Accounting team.Perform other general accounting and administrative duties as needed.QualificationsPrior Accounts Payable or general accounting experience required.Experience with project-related AP strongly preferred.Construction, service, or project-based accounting experience is a plus.Strong understanding of invoice processing, vendor payments, and accounting procedures.Experience working with an ERP/accounting system required.Experience with Spectrum by Viewpoint is a plus, but not required.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Comfortable communicating with Purchasing, Project Management, vendors, and internal departments.Strong organizational and multitasking skills.Excel skills are required; specific level to be discussed.Must be comfortable working in a fully on-site environment.Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits, and 401K plan.
