Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, Clinical Practice Track - UW Division of Rheumatology

Position Description The University of Washington (UW), Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology is currently recruiting for a full-time (1.0 FTE) position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank on the Clinical Practice Track based at the University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake, University of Washington Medical Center – Northwest Clinic, Roosevelt Clinic, and/or Harborview Medical Center. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. Positions are available effective January 1, 2027. Specific start date is negotiable. In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized clinical program. Duties will include inpatient and outpatient attending service with the responsibility to teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows. Compensation Salary The base salary range for Assistant Professor will be: $15,000 - $17,500 per month ($180,000 - $210,000 annually) and the base salary range for Associate Professor will be $17,500 to $19,000 per month ($210,000 - $228,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. We strongly encourage you to review this link for more details: Qualifications The successful candidate must have an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), medical licensure in the state of Washington and Board Eligibility or Certification in Rheumatology (or foreign equivalent) by the start date of employment. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
