Overview
Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery (L&D) travel assignment in San Luis Obispo, California. Start date: 10/12/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $2,695 to $2,810 per week. Guaranteed hours: 36 per week. Shift: 3x12 nights, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM. Setting: Short Term Acute Care Hospital.

Responsibilities
- Plan and provide nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients and their families, including emergency situations; circulate for C-sections when needed.
- Initiate multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plans in collaboration with obstetric, anesthesia, neonatal, and ancillary teams; delegate tasks to staff within scope of practice.
- Assess maternal and fetal status, amniotic fluid, vaginal bleeding, and overall well-being; recognize and respond to perinatal emergencies (e.g., crash C-section, precipitous delivery, shoulder dystocia).
- Manage labor analgesia and pain control; assist with epidural catheter placement and monitor patient status during and after medication administration.
- Educate patients and families across all stages of perinatal care; provide guidance on postpartum recovery and newborn care.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EPIC) and collaborate with the care team to update plans as needed.

Requirements
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse license to practice in California.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course; Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) or AWHONN certification; AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS; AHA-NRP or ARC-NALS as applicable.
- Experience: Minimum two years of recent Labor & Delivery experience.
- Education: ADN required; BSN preferred.
- Other: Must have EPIC electronic medical record experience; able to work a night-shift schedule in a hospital obstetric unit; able to provide care in antepartum through postpartum settings.
