Work Environment

The Physical Therapist will operate predominantly in a home care setting in Hampton, Virginia. Here, you will interact closely with patients in the comfort of their own homes, allowing you to understand their specific needs and challenges better. This role requires adaptability and creative problem-solving skills since you will be working with various settings and equipment types in patients' residences.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing evaluations to assess patients' physical abilities, limitations, and goals for recovery.
• Develop individualized Plans of Treatment tailored to each patient's needs, establishing both short-term and long-term goals that align with their specific capabilities.
• Implement therapeutic interventions according to established plans, ensuring that therapy sessions are safe, effective, and adjusted as necessary based on patient progress.
• Maintain meticulous records of patient progress, adhering to both medical documentation standards and facility protocols.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to discuss patient care strategies, addressing any interdisciplinary needs for patient support.
• Engage in continuous professional development through workshops and educational opportunities to enhance therapeutic techniques and modalities.
• Ensure that the therapy environment, including patient interaction spaces and equipment, remains sanitary, orderly, and conducive to rehabilitation.

Patient Population / Client Focus

As an Orthopedic Physical Therapist, you will primarily work with a diverse patient population that includes individuals recovering from orthopedic injuries, surgeries, and age-related conditions. You will treat patients of varying ages, helping them manage pain, improve mobility, enhance strength, and achieve their rehabilitation goals. Understanding patients' unique backgrounds and challenges will be key to providing customized and impactful care.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program; a Master's or Doctorate degree is preferred.
• An active Physical Therapy license in the state of Virginia.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, including AED training.
• A compassionate approach to patient care, coupled with exceptional communication skills and the ability to inspire trust.

Preferred Experience

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in providing physical therapy, particularly within an orthopedic context.
• Familiarity with various rehabilitation techniques and modalities, including manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and equipment utilization.
• Experience working in home health care environments is highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits
