TEMPORARY Lead & NON Lead Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator - Antero Reservoir

Temporary Position (9 months or less) Pay: $20 - $21 per hour. Employment starts 04/25/2026 and ends 10/31/2026. Positions Lead Inspector Non Lead Inspector The mission of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources is to develop, preserve, and enhance the state's natural resources for the benefit and enjoyment of current and future citizens and visitors. Lead Inspector Responsibilities Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Antero Reservoir. Provide on‑job training to inspection staff, create schedules, ensure all shifts are covered during operational hours, collect and verify accurate time‑keeping records for payroll purposes. Work with area work lead to resolve challenges with staff and customers, and recommend hiring/firing of employees to area work lead. Ensure inspection station staff are following standardized protocols by performing quality‑control assessments on a monthly basis. Ensure that data entry is performed accurately and completely by all inspection station staff. Maintain inventory of all required supplies and perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on power washer/decontamination unit. Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species. Early morning, evening, and weekend work is required. Non Lead Inspector Responsibilities Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols. Work independently or in pairs to inspect boats launching and leaving the reservoir, with regard to invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels. Provide public outreach on the aquatic invasive species topic by distributing printed material to those visiting the reservoir. Boat inspection training will be provided. Early morning, evening, and weekend work is required. Minimum Qualifications Good driving record and ability to work weekends, early mornings, and late evenings. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent customer service experience working with the public. Reliable and timely. Ability to self‑motivate and work independently. Valid driver license and safe driving record if the position requires driving a State‑owned vehicle; Motor Vehicle Records will be reviewed for workers with assigned or pool State fleet vehicles. For Lead Inspector: willingness to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines, and/or heavy equipment. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
