TEMPORARY Lead & NON Lead Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator - Lake San Cristobal

Position Summary Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator (Lead or General) – temporary position (9 months or less). Pay: $19.00–$20.00 per hour. Employment starts 04/27/2026 and ends 10/31/2026. Responsibilities Non‑Lead Inspector Perform boat inspection and decontamination according to state regulations and standard protocols at Lake San Cristobal near Lake City, Colorado. Work independently or in pairs to inspect boats launching and leaving the lake, including invasive species such as zebra and quagga mussels. Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species by distributing printed materials to visitors. Report directly to the boat ramp. Receive boat inspection training. Work requires early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. Lead Inspector Perform boat inspection and decontamination according to state regulations and standard protocols at Lake San Cristobal. Provide on‑the‑job training to inspection staff. Create schedules and ensure shift coverage during operating hours. Collect and verify accurate time‑keeping records for payroll. Maintain inventory of required supplies and assist with interviewing candidates for employment. Work with supervisor to resolve staff and customer challenges, ensuring staff follow standardized protocols. Ensure accurate and complete data entry by inspection station staff. Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on the power washer / decontamination unit. Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species. Work requires early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. Minimum Qualifications Reliable transportation and availability to work weekends, holidays, early morning, and late evenings. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Reliable and timely. Ability to self‑motivate and work independently. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines, and/or heavy equipment. Excellent customer service skills and/or experience working with the public.
