ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

Reports to: Project Director for the Sun-Walking Fellowship at Louisville Seminary This is a part-time position.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Artistic Coordinator for the Sun-Walking Fellowship at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary works with the Project Director and Administrative Coordinator to plan and bring to life events that lift up the practice of making art as a form of ministry with young people. The Artistic Coordinator serves as liaison and primary point of contact for artists and takes point on planning artistic aspects of Sun-Walking events.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Liaison for Artists Artists interact with the grant in three ways: 1) As Artist-Consultants, offering guidance for congregations who are using art in the ministry with young people; 2) as workshop leaders for the retreats that kick-off our cohort events; and 3) as presenters at either our four Sun-Walking Studios or our annual Makers’ Fest. The Artistic Coordinator serves as primary point of connection for the artists with whom we work: Finding artists to work with the grant Assessing artists’ fit with the purposes of the grant (discerning if the artists will work theologically with the seminary's values; discerning if artists should serve as consultants, workshop leaders, or presenters) Matching artist-consultants with the congregations that the grant is working with Training artists in the grants' purpose, structure, and values; With the Administrative Coordinator, obtaining necessary documentation from the artists (contracts, W-9s, bios, headshots, etc.) Event Planning With the Project Director and Administrative Coordinator, plan Sun-Walking Fellowship events (retreats, Sun-Walking Studios, Makers' Fest), with particular responsibility for artistic aspects of these events (workshops, presentations, performances) Coordinate and communicate with other offices, supervisors, committees, and other seminary personnel responsible for events, including assisting Project Director and Administrative Coordinator with pre-event planning, calendaring, budgeting, and logistics. Work closely with Project Director and Administrative Coordinator and the Communications Office regarding marketing, printed materials, and the Sun-Walking Fellowship website. Be on-site for events, which will include evenings and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRED QUALITIES

An understanding of the practice of art, obtained either as an artist or from working with artists. Bachelor's degree; Master's degree and/or some form of theological education preferred. Proficiency in basic office management operations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office or like suite software, particularly Excel and Word. Proficiency with programs like CANVA, Adobe Suite Software, and Microsoft OneDrive and Teams and/or Google Drive. Ability to handle a large volume and a great variety of work in an accurate and timely manner and be receptive to changing responsibilities and new challenges. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently, to be detail-oriented, and accurate. Ability to appropriately handle confidential information and material.
