Payroll Manager - Houston, TX (Remote)


Our client, a growing renewable energy company, is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead all payroll operations and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across a multi-state workforce. This position reports directly to the CFO and will oversee a small payroll team.

Key Responsibilities:


• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a multi-state employee population.
• Supervise and mentor two direct reports.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Maintain and optimize payroll systems, with preference for experience using Rippling or UKG.
• Partner with HR, Finance, and leadership on payroll reporting, audits, benefits deductions, and employee-related payroll matters.
• Support process improvements, internal controls, and payroll best practices within a growing organization.


Qualifications:


• 5+ years of progressive payroll leadership experience.
• Experience managing payroll for a multi-state workforce.
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, taxes, wage and hour regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Experience with Rippling, UKG, or similar payroll platforms preferred.
• Prior experience in renewable energy preferred; candidates from energy, utilities, infrastructure, or related industries will also be considered.
• Strong attention to detail, leadership skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
