Facilities Manager

Build the factory that builds the future. Most Facilities Manager roles are about maintaining what already exists. This isn't one of them. My client is one of the fastest-growing companies in the global space sector, developing next-generation satellite technology that will support commercial, government and scientific missions around the world. As demand continues to grow, they are making a major investment in the United States—and this is where your story begins. They have secured a 100,000 sq. ft. facility in Los Angeles . Right now it's an empty shell. Over the coming months it will become a world-class satellite manufacturing centre, complete with advanced cleanrooms, production lines, environmental testing capability, assembly areas and ITAR-compliant infrastructure. The person who makes that happen could be you. The Opportunity This is far more than a Facilities Manager position. You'll become the driving force behind one of the company's most important strategic investments, taking ownership of the facility from design and construction through to commissioning, operational readiness and ultimately full-scale satellite production. You'll be the person walking the site every day. The person spotting problems before anyone else sees them. The person bringing together architects, contractors, engineers, consultants and leadership to ensure every milestone is delivered safely, on time and within budget. When the first satellites roll off the production line, you'll know every square foot of the building because you helped create it. What You'll Be Responsible For You'll lead the transformation of a warehouse into a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility by: Owning the day-to-day delivery of the entire construction programme. Managing the General Contractor along with specialist subcontractors and engineering partners. Coordinating MEP consultants, cleanroom specialists, production line designers and process engineering teams. Reviewing layouts, infrastructure plans and equipment installations to identify technical or operational risks before they become expensive problems. Driving permitting activities and ensuring regulatory milestones remain on schedule. Working closely with Manufacturing, Production and AIT teams to ensure infrastructure is ready ahead of equipment installation and production ramp-up. Providing senior leadership with clear reporting on programme status, risks, budgets and critical decisions. Supporting commissioning, validation and handover into a fully operational manufacturing facility. Developing long-term facilities management strategies, maintenance programmes, EHS processes and future site expansion plans. This Role Will Grow With The Business Initially, you'll be an individual contributor with significant autonomy and ownership. But this isn't designed to stay that way. As production ramps up and additional facilities are developed, you'll have the opportunity to build the Facilities function, recruit your own team and help shape the company's long-term manufacturing strategy. Who We're Looking For You've probably spent the last 5-10 years delivering complex industrial, technical or manufacturing facilities. Maybe you've worked in aerospace. Maybe semiconductors. Perhaps defence, biotech, pharmaceuticals or another highly regulated manufacturing environment. But what really excites us is someone who's already experienced the pace of a high-growth technology company. You've helped build a satellite manufacturing facility before. Perhaps you've worked within a space startup helping establish cleanrooms, production lines, integration facilities or spacecraft manufacturing capability. If you've been part of taking a facility from an empty building to a fully operational production environment, we'd love to hear your story. You'll bring experience of: Delivering large-scale industrial or technical construction projects. Managing General Contractors and specialist engineering consultants. Working with cleanrooms, MEP systems, HVAC, electrical infrastructure and facility commissioning. Reading engineering drawings and identifying technical risks before they impact programme delivery. Operating successfully in fast-paced organisations where priorities evolve quickly. Leading projects with confidence, independence and accountability.
