Key Responsibilities\n

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Long Beach Counseling Services, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Managing a caseload of clients, establishing rapport, and cultivating meaningful therapeutic relationships while adhering to professional ethics and boundaries.

• Conducting regular virtual and in-person sessions to assess client progress, discuss treatment outcomes, and facilitate the discharge process when appropriate.

• Developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized treatment plans based on clients’ specific needs and goals.

• Maintaining thorough documentation, including progress notes and treatment updates, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and regulations.

• Performing comprehensive intake assessments to evaluate new clients’ mental health needs and create appropriate treatment strategies.

• Participating in one-on-one supervision sessions aimed at enhancing clinical skills and personal growth.

• Engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration with other healthcare providers to foster an integrated approach to client well-being.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Our mental health services primarily target youth and adolescents dealing with a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance abuse. In this role, you will be instrumental in providing tailored therapy that meets the unique needs of this client population, ensuring that each youth receives compassionate care that allows them to thrive. Qualifications\n

The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:

• A Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field.

• Current licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).

• Proven track record of meeting internal credentialing requirements for clinical settings.

• Minimum of one year of experience working with psychiatric patients and/or addressing substance abuse issues.

• Experience in conducting assessments, diagnosing mental health issues, and providing both individual and group therapy.

• Comfortable and proficient in using computer systems for documentation and communication.

Preferred Experience\n

While not mandatory, candidates with experience in specific therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or play therapy, as well as those with training in trauma-informed care, will be highly regarded. An understanding of community resources and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team are also preferred.
